Its A Bit Chilly But No Snow. Yet!

Posted on: 27th Feb 2018

The snow has not materialised on Newmarket Heath today, yet. It is a bit frosty and chilly but the trainers are very pleased that they have been able to get all their horses out this morning. We are supposed to be getting a downfall at mid-day but we will see.

It is an exciting time with the new turf season within sight and we are all very happy with the condition of the horses and the way are travelling in their everyday work. We have a few horses like EXCELLERATION, ABEL SEAMAN and SCOONES who are in full work and should be ready to run at the start of the season.

ZEST is running today at Lingfield. She will only be running half of this season as she is going to be covered by Oasis Dream soon. She has settled down a lot as she has grown older and is running consistently good races which we will hopefully see at 3.30 this afternoon. It would be fair to say that at times she has been frustrating but she seems to be enjoying her racing much more now. The fillies in the race have all been running against each other all winter.

We were very disappointed with LORD GEORGE'S race at Kempton last week. He just was not the horse that had won there six weeks before. We are going to forget that race and concentrate on his next. He is quite hard to judge as he does not do a lot at home but I am sure we will a nice race with him this year. He has the visor on not because he is not genuine but more to help him concentrate the final couple of furlongs.

THE TIN MAN started cantering on the flat Town Canter about ten days ago. He will do this for a few more weeks before he starts going up Warren Hill. We want to make sure that he is up to it before we put him under pressure. He looks so well though.
